Dirt is the second studio album by the Seattle rock band Alice In Chains, released on 29th September 1992 through Columbia Records. The album received critical acclaim and has gone on to sell over five million copies worldwide, making it the band's highest-selling album to date. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, we are giving away a limited edition copy of the album on double yellow vinyl.
The band began recording their sophomore album in the spring of 1992, working again with producer Dave Jerden who they previously collaborated on their debut album Facelift in 1990. Dirt defines their signature sound with heavy dropped 'D' tuned guitars paired with droning vocal harmonies and dark lyrical themes.
Their sophomore album stands out as one of the highlights of the 1990s grunge era, which highly influenced a new generation of acts to follow in the 2000s. It was also the final album to feature all four original members.
The album originally peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 and remained in the Billboard charts for almost two years. The band was voted Kerrang! Critic's Choice Album of the Year for 1992. Rolling Stone Magazine placed the album at No. 26 on its list of the 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of All Time.
