72 Seasons is the twelfth studio album by global heavy metal goliaths Metallica, released today on the band's own Blackened Recordings label. Townsend Music has got a copy of Metallica's 72 Seasons on Purple Double Vinyl to give away to one lucky winner!
Six years since Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, Metallica is back to show the metal world what has made them the kings of the genre for the past four decades. With twelve tracks totalling over 77 minutes, 72 Seasons is out today, including a stunning Purple Double Vinyl edition.
Produced by Greg Fidelman with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich at the band’s own studio in San Rafael, 72 Seasons was heralded by first single 'Lux Æterna', a short, sharp blast that distils 40 years of Metallica into a three-and-a-half minute thrash anthem.
The album package was once again conceived and art directed by acclaimed designer David Turner and his team. David, who won a Grammy for his work on Death Magnetic, is the man behind the look and feel of all recent Metallica releases, including Through The Never, S&M2, and Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.
Metallica main man James Hetfield has explained the significance of the title. “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents."
"Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry." - James Hetfield
