In what has become one of the biggest annual events on the music calendar, Record Store Day is the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate our unique culture.

Record Store Day 2021 will be taking place on Saturday 12th June and Saturday 17th July and Townsend Music is proud to be a part of the proceedings. With a whole host of special vinyl releases appearing on the shelves of Townsend Records and for sale on Townsend Music Store, we've put together a few selections from the inventory that could be top of your list come Saturday's drop.

1) Suede: Love And Poison - Clear 2LP

Love And Poison is the audio soundtrack to Suede's first concert video, recorded at Brixton Academy on 16th May 1993, only a month after the release of their Mercury Prize-winning debut album.

Issued on vinyl for the first time, the concert setlist includes stunning versions of nine album tracks, including the singles 'Animal Nitrate', 'The Drowners', 'To The Birds', and many more.

"Songs played during the Love & Poison gig included ‘Animal Nitrate’ and set-closer ‘So Young’. Brett Anderson and co. also performed four B-sides on the night." - NME

The Record Store Day 2021 edition of Love & Poison is a 2LP set on Demon Records, pressed on 180 gram clear vinyl.

Suede fans can also pick up the exclusive So Young: Suede 1991-1993 Hardback Photo Book on the So Young Store.

2) Mansun: Closed For Business - 12" Vinyl

2020 saw the release of the critically acclaimed career-spanning 25-disc Mansun box set Closed For Business, which included their original albums, the dozens of overlooked gems featured on their EPs, unissued demos and studio out-takes, BBC radio sessions, and full-length concert recordings. This new RSD-exclusive 12" brings together tracks previously available across the formats for the band's Seven EP release from 1997. It also features the first collaboration between the group and Magazine frontman Howard Devoto in 'Everyone Must Win'.

"The music on the EP reveals a transitional sound for the band, in which the club-crossover brit-pop style of their earliest work is left behind in favour of a more organic sound, one closer to progressive rock and post punk." - Kscope

Closed For Business (Seven EP) is released on 12" vinyl for RSD21 through Kscope.

A range of Mansun albums and merchandise are available now on the official Mansun Store.

3) Garbage: No Gods No Masters - Transparent Pink 12" Vinyl

Five years on from 2016's Strange Little Birds, Garbage has dramatically declared their return with seventh album No Gods, No Masters, set to drop Friday, June 11th, featuring the incendiary singles 'The Men Who Rule The World' and the album title track 'No Gods No Masters'. Produced by Garbage and long-time collaborator Billy Bush, the album will be supported by UK tour dates with new wave legends Blondie in November 2021.

“It was our way of trying to make sense of how fucking nuts the world is and the astounding chaos we find ourselves in." - Shirley Manson

This new edition of the album will be available on exclusive transparent pink vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with bespoke artwork to Record Store Day 2021 on Infectious Music / BMG Rights Management (Limited) UK.

The full range of No Gods, No Masters album formats are available on the official Garbage Store.

4) Ultravox: Vienna [Steven Wilson Mixes] - Clear 2LP

Vienna was the first album made by Ultravox's definitive line-up after Midge Ure had taken over as lead vocalist and guitarist. The release of the title track as the third single from the album in January 1981 heralded the band's commercial breakthrough worldwide.

This Steven Wilson-mixed edition of the album is taken from the recent Deluxe CD Edition of the band's Vienna [40th Anniversary Edition] release, but for completists, this version includes a previously unreleased Instrumental version of the album, also cribbed from the Steven Wilson stereo mix.

"A classic if ever there were one. The 40th Anniversary version of Vienna by Ultravox with all the trimmings which makes the repackage most worthwhile." - AtTheBarrier.com

This RSD-exclusive edition is issued by Chrysalis Records on 180gram clear 2LP, mastered by ALCHEMY.

The full range of Vienna Deluxe Editions are available on the official Ultravox Store.

5) Status Quo: Live At Knebworth - Coloured Vinyl
