Record Store Day 2025 Staff Picks

Tomorrow is the 18th Record Store Day, an annual event honouring independent record shops, with over 250 stores, including Townsend Records, joining in. These special titles will be available exclusively in-store during the event and drop online at 8 PM on Monday, April 14 - here are our top selections from the list!

Following on from 2023’s 20th Anniversary re-issues of Neon Nights (RetroPop’s #1 Re-issue of 2023), Dannii Minogue returns to the dance floor once more for Neon Nights Remixed.

Neon Nights Remixed brings together the best new remixes, commissioned for 2023, including reworks from Initial Talk, AMYL, Luke Mornay, Project K and a specially commissioned new remix of ‘Put The Needle on It’ by Korpi & Blackcell.

All mixes appear on Transparent Blue wax, on vinyl for the very first time for Record Store Day 2025.

Taller In More Ways - Pink LP

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sugababes’ fourth album, Taller In More Ways, the LP will be released on vinyl for the first time for Record Store Day 2025.

Originally released on 5th October 2005, the UK 2x Platinum album features their biggest track ‘Push The Button’, and other favourites ‘Ugly’ and ‘Red Dress’.

The limited edition pink vinyl will be housed in a single sleeve, with gold foil lettering on the cover, black inner bag, and a double-sided 12” insert with lyrics.

Sci-fi Lullabies Volume 2 - Clear 2LP

Exclusively for Record Store Day 2025, Demon Records are thrilled to present Sci-Fi Lullabies: Volume 2. a sequel to the classic 1997 B-Sides compilation by Suede. This new collection, curated by Suede frontman Brett Anderson, features 19 selected cuts spanning the band’s trajectory from 1999 to 2023.

Where Sci-Fi Lullabies left off after Coming Up, Volume 2 collects the crop of bonus tracks released from Head Music in 1999 to 2022’s Autofiction. This collection also debuts a previously unreleased track, ‘Blinded’, making its first-ever appearance here.

Pressed on double 140g clear vinyl, with complete lyrics, Sci-Fi Lullabies: Volume 2 is a must-have for Suede fans and collectors.

Shakespears Sister

Black Sky - Glow In The Dark LP

Originally released as a DJ-only promo 12” single in 1992, 'The Dub Extravaganza Part 2' of Shakespears Sister’s ‘Black Sky’ was an early taste of Underworld’s remixing prowess.

Darren Emerson and Rick Smith twisted the original’s goth pop into a nine-minute progressive house boiler; since then, copies of the single have been much sought after.

Finally the 'The Dub Extravaganza Part 2' is re-issued on vinyl, alongside the 'The Dub Extravaganza Part 1' and two newly commissioned re-edits of the Underworld mix by Leo Zero.
