Laundry Service is the iconic pop album that made Columbian singer and songwriter Shakira "a star in the English-speaking world almost overnight" (All Music) buoyed by the transfixing video for stand-out track 'Whenever, Wherever'. Townsend Music has got a copy of the new limited edition 12" colour 2LP reissue of the album to give away to one lucky winner.
Issued on vinyl by Legacy Recordings via Sony CMG, this is a 20th-anniversary celebration of international superstar Shakira's first English language album, which has sold over 18 million copies to date. Six singles were released from the album; the lead single 'Whenever, Wherever' became an international success and reached number one on record charts of countries like Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Shakira's belly-dancing ability came into attention and gathered coverage during the Laundry Service era, especially due to the music video of the lead single. The song also became famous for one of its lines in which Shakira sings: "Lucky that my breasts are small and humble, so you don’t confuse them with mountains"; with the lyric often cited as an example of the unique lyrical content of the singer's songs!
