Updated: Feb 5

Townsend Music D2C+ empowers artists and bands to retain greater control of their art and sell their music and merchandise directly to their fans and customers. With Townsend Music D2C+ Spotlight (Part 1) we took a look at new releases from the likes of The Reytons and Kula Shaker - here's Part 2 to get you up to date with more exciting upcoming D2C+ campaigns.

Kaiser Chiefs - Kaiser Chiefs' Easy Eighth Album

2023's Quarter 4 commenced with the launch of three significant album campaigns, first with the addition of Yorkshire indie-rock icons Kaiser Chiefs to the Townsend Music D2C+ roster. Almost two decades in the game, and armed with an extensive back-catalogue of stadium belters, Kaiser Chiefs have announced their brand new studio album, the aptly titled Kaiser Chiefs' Easy Eighth Album, slated for release on March 1st 2024.

Produced by Amir Amor (Rudimental), the album promises Kaiser Chiefs' return with a fresh and bold new sound. From the Nile Rodgers co-write of single ‘Feeling Alright’, these ten tracks are a true statement of intent from a band that continues to deliver the goods again and again.

“On the first day with Nile Rodgers, he said, ‘What have you got?’ We searched through some jams we had and this was a song that stood out to him. “The band loved playing it round and round, and it must be fun to play but we never really knew where it would find a home. Nile turned out to be the best estate agent and found it a home almost immediately" - Ricky Wilson

Starsailor - Where The Wild Things Grow

Another new addition to the roster arrived in the form of Warrington's Starsailor and the announcement of the new album Where The Wild Things Grow, produced by Rick McNamara of Embrace, set for release on 22nd March 2024.

The announcement album announcement was driven by the chance for fans to gain presale ticket access to the band's homecoming Warrington Parr Hall release show, which duly sold out. The first taster of the record came in November with 'Heavyweight', which was added to the playlist at Absolute Radio 20's and saw Chris Straw of Bauer Radio apprising: “Another well-established band hitting new heights. Distinctive as ever with superb production"

"(Heavyweight) is an undeniably driving riffing rock track with a warm intro and a strong, punching hook. Soft yet abrasive vocals make the song a thrilling journey through time." - Music For The Misfits

Feeder - Black / Red

October 2023 saw the return of Welsh rockers Feeder to the TM D2C+ fold, announcing a new double album Black / Red for release on 5th April 2024. Black / Red completes a trilogy of albums including 2022’s UK Top 5 album Torpedo, also released in partnership with TM D2C+.

In November, Feeder increased the excitement for Black / Red with their double A-side single 'The Knock / Soldiers Of Love', which won them plays and plaudits on BBC Radio 2's The Rock Show with Johnnie Walker, with the song also declared Sophie K's Single Of The Week on Kerrang! Radio.

Good Cop Bad Cop - Welcome To The Marble Zone

Sheffield music stalwart Joe Carnall Jr. signalled the return of his Good Cop Bad Cop project with the 'Does It Get Any Easier?' single back in October 2023, before launching his new Official Store. A long-time darling of the Sheffield music scene, Carnall rose to prominence as the frontman of 00s indie band Milburn who have enjoyed an incredible resurgence since their return six years ago.

For new album Welcome To The Marble Zone, the guitars were left in their cases for the most part, with Carnall and producer Gold Teeth (Andy Nicholson) opting to further push the synth and hip-hop undertones suggested on the project's debut offering. Today, Good Cop Bad Cop reveal 'Running Away With the Circus", disclosing the influence of Manchester's New Order on the project's eclectic stew of sounds.

“Over the past few years, I’ve been intrigued by the soundclash of guitars and electronic music, as I found myself listening to a lot of New Order whilst writing the record" - Joe Carnall
